Watcher vs the tools you already know

What fits a multi-site agency portfolio, what each tool does that Watcher does not, and how to bring your URL list across. See also on our blog: Comparing PageSpeed Monitoring Tools.

Comparisons

One page per platform—where they do more, and price at 20 sites.

Apogee Watcher vs DebugBear

DebugBear wins on first-party real-user monitoring, experiments, and deep synthetic debugging. Watcher does not require a script on every client site and is built for multi-organisation PageSpeed Insights portfolios with easy page discovery, roles, and flat site caps.

20 sites: $79 / €69 vs $325

Monthly list: Startup $125 / Team $325 / Corporate·Agency $899. Yearly (~20% off): $99 / $249 / $699.

Apogee Watcher vs SpeedCurve

SpeedCurve is premium synthetic monitoring plus real-user monitoring (RUM). Watcher covers many client sites with PageSpeed Insights and CrUX in the result at Professional/Agency list prices when you cannot put a tracking script on every client site.

20 sites: $79 / €69 vs $218

Monthly build (17 Oct 2026): 0.5M RUM + 10K synthetic checks = $218/mo. Exact hub load at 20 sites (daily 5 URLs × 2 browsers × 1 region ≈ 7K checks) + 0.5M RUM = $173/mo.

Apogee Watcher vs GTmetrix

GTmetrix is the lab debugger many teams already know—real Chrome, locations, waterfalls. Watcher is the scheduled multi-site PageSpeed setup with discovery and team roles when monitored slots stop scaling with the client list.

20 sites: $79 / €69 vs Quote

Scenario: about 10 slots per site (5 URLs × 2 devices). Expert’s 50 slots cover about 5 sites; 10 / 20 / 50 sites need a custom PRO plan (about 100 / 200 / 500 slots).

Apogee Watcher vs Oh Dear

Oh Dear is an uptime and site-health suite with scheduled Lighthouse. Watcher is Core Web Vitals / PageSpeed portfolio monitoring. Most agencies should use both for different jobs, not force one tool to do everything.

20 sites: $79 / €69 vs €399 / $439

Lighthouse is one URL per monitor (desktop or mobile). Matching our 5 URLs × both devices needs ~10 monitors per client site—20 sites ≈ Scale €399, not Studio €99.

What a portfolio costs a month

Same job for every row: about 5 money URLs per client site, mobile and desktop, on a weekly cadence (~43 PageSpeed-style checks per site per month). Tools that bill per URL, slot, or check are sized to that full load—not “homepage only.” See the “What that covers” column. Prices are public list prices; confirm on each vendor’s site before you buy.

# Tool Plan What that covers Price / mo

Watcher list prices show USD and EUR. Competitors use their published currency (Oh Dear in EUR). Sort order uses an approximate USD key for mixed lists only—not a contractual FX rate. Homepage-only monitoring (one URL, or two slots for mobile + desktop) would be cheaper on GTmetrix and Oh Dear; that is not what this table prices. Last verified 17 Oct 2026.

Bring your list as it is

Export URLs from your current tool or sheet, recreate organisations and sites in Watcher, then let discovery fill gaps. We do not import historical Lighthouse runs from other vendors—schedules and budgets start fresh.
