Compare Oh Dear
Apogee Watcher vs Oh Dear
Oh Dear is built for uptime, SSL, status pages, and site-health checks (with scheduled Lighthouse). Watcher is built for multi-organisation PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals portfolio monitoring. They solve different primary jobs.
At a glance
| Topic | Oh Dear | Apogee Watcher |
|---|---|---|
| Time to setup (estimated) | ~15–45 min to add sites and turn on the uptime / SSL / Lighthouse suite | ~15–30 min for first organisation, sites, discovery, and a weekly schedule |
| Primary job | Uptime + site health (+ Lighthouse) | PageSpeed / Core Web Vitals portfolio monitoring |
| Field data (CrUX) | No — scheduled Lighthouse lab only | CrUX in PageSpeed Insights results when Google publishes it |
| Pricing model | Sites & servers (1 Lighthouse URL per monitor); all features every plan | Site / test / organisation tiers |
| Status pages / SSL / cron | Included | Not an uptime-suite product line |
| Entry public pricing | From €15 / $17 Solo (2 sites) | $9 Personal → Growth $42 → $199 Agency |
Time to setup is an estimate for a first useful monitoring configuration (not a full portfolio migration or enterprise rollout). Your stack, tag access, and URL count will change it.
What Oh Dear does better
- Uptime with second-location verification, SSL, DNS, broken links, cron, status pages
- Every feature on every plan (SSO, unlimited users, API)
- Agency branding for status pages and client reports in an ops-monitoring package
- Predictable site-and-server caps for ops monitoring
- Scheduled Lighthouse plus HTTP timing budgets alongside uptime checks
What Watcher does better
- PageSpeed Insights history with CrUX field data, budgets, and discovery for Core Web Vitals client work
- Multi-organisation monitoring shaped around PageSpeed quotas
- Agency Core Web Vitals operations without buying a full uptime suite
- Lab and CrUX field data side-by-side as the core monitoring loop
- Money-page discovery so Core Web Vitals retainers track what actually shipped
Who each is best for
- Oh Dear: When “is it up?” plus SSL and status pages is the primary risk.
- Apogee Watcher: When Core Web Vitals and PageSpeed portfolios are what you bill for.
- Often use both: Keep Oh Dear for uptime and certificates; add Watcher for Core Web Vitals and PageSpeed Insights depth.

From ohdear.app/pricing (17 Oct 2026), ex. VAT, monthly. Plans sized by sites & servers; every feature on every plan. Lighthouse is one URL per monitor (desktop or mobile; both devices = two monitors) and at most once per day. Hub rows match the shared scenario (~10 monitors per client site), not homepage-only. EUR (EU): Solo €15 · Solo Plus €29 · Freelance €49 · Studio €99 · Agency €149 · Agency Plus €199 · Portfolio €249 · Portfolio Plus €329 · Scale €399; USD Solo $17 · Solo Plus $32 · Freelance $55 · Studio $109 · Agency $165 · Agency Plus $219 · Portfolio $275 · Portfolio Plus $365 · Scale $439. Annual: “2 months free.” Homepage-only (1–2 monitors/site) would be much cheaper—Studio at 20 sites—but undercounts the hub footnote. Snapshot date: 17 Oct 2026. Switch / setup from Oh Dear
- 1. Keep Oh Dear if uptime, SSL, or status pages remain required.
- 2. Export the site list and add domains as Watcher sites for PageSpeed schedules.
- 3. Map Lighthouse-only habits to Watcher budgets on LCP, INP, CLS, or scores.
- 4. Explain to stakeholders that HTTP 200 is not the same as good CrUX.
F.A.Q.
It includes scheduled Lighthouse and HTTP timing, but it is an uptime and site-health suite first. Watcher is PageSpeed Insights / Core Web Vitals portfolio monitoring first. Searching for an Oh Dear alternative often mixes those two jobs.
One URL per monitor, as desktop or mobile (not both unless you add the site twice). There is no monthly test quota—limits are your sites-and-servers plan cap and at most one Lighthouse run per day per monitor. Matching our hub scenario (5 URLs × mobile + desktop) needs about 10 monitors per client site.
Oh Dear’s pricing page localises currency. EU views show EUR (ex. VAT); other locales show USD (ex. VAT)—e.g. Studio €99 or $109/mo. We show EUR on the hub as published for EU visitors and note the USD list in the pricing caveat.
Only if you no longer need uptime-suite features. Most agencies use both: Oh Dear for “is it up?”, Watcher for Core Web Vitals portfolios.
